Films and talks in the same room.
The Battenkill Fly Fishing Festival ran April 27 through April 30, 2023, at Arlington Common, 3938 Route 7A in downtown Arlington, less than half a mile from the Battenkill. The weekend mixed workshops and casting demos with fly-tying, live music, food, and a craft beer tent. Trout Unlimited and the Batten Kill Watershed Alliance held a community tree planting along the river.
Our room was the Performing Arts Center, from 5:00 to 9:00 on Friday, 11:00 to noon and 1:00 to 4:50 on Saturday, and 2:00 to 3:30 on Sunday. The picture was a 7-by-14-foot rear-projection screen in black velour, thrown by a Christie laser projector. Two Dell laptops and a Blu-ray player ran through a Blackmagic switcher. Four JBL speakers and a sub, on a Mackie 1402, carried the room, with wireless mics for the talks.
The International Fly Fishing Film Festival played April 28 and April 30, ten short and feature-length films. On Friday at 5:00, Doug Lyons presented Hunting for Battenkill Brown Trout. A confidence monitor at the front showed him the slide the room was seeing, and a second monitor in the lobby, beside the stained glass, posted the day’s schedule. The next years are 2024 and 2025.
