Lincoln Hall has hosted weddings for as long as Hildene has opened its doors to the public. The room knows how to receive one — proportions that ask for ceremony, an atmosphere that already carries weight. A couple who books Lincoln Hall is choosing a specific kind of evening. Our job is to support that choice without getting in front of it.

We designed the lighting to work with the architecture. Warm perimeter uplighting brought out the historic woodwork in amber tones that read as celebratory without competing with the room. The live band brought their own sound; we gave the stage a wash that kept the performance present. Dance floor lighting responded to the music in real time through the set.

Cables out of sight, equipment out of sightlines, the room as the dominant visual experience. When the dancing started, the production was felt rather than seen.

The best lighting at Hildene is the lighting no one catalogs later. Guests should remember the room, the music, and the people in it. We know this hall well enough to stay out of the way of that.
